    Lt230 dramas

G'day all, just scored my first disco for free off my brother and lovin every minute of it, she's a 93 2 door v8 manual and there's some big plans for her. Picked it up in Airlie Beach and spent a couple of weeks cruising down the coast then back home to Adelaide, can't believe how nice it feels on the road, ****s on any cruiser I've ever driven!! Anyway 4000k's down and it never missed a beat until we got to the city side of the Adelaide hills and I noticed a bearing noise from the g/box/t/case...got her home and it turns out the t/c output shaft bearings are knackered... meh easy fix and I can't complain seeing as she cost me nothing but my dilemma is in the high/low, there is nothing happening when I move the stick, no resistance at all and definitely no low range. The linkages are hooked up but other than that I haven't the foggiest where to start! Any ideas or help would be much appreciated, cheers

Glad you like the new toy

In the selector housing there is a circlip which is known to pop off and give the symptoms you have described there (happened to me in the bush).

You can get at it through the transmission tunnel after removing the centre console.

you can shift the diff lock linkage manually on the case using a 10mm spanner (i think that is the right size) you can feel a definite click when you turn it left or right
