Why not just use normal rubber HP fuel line?

It isn't designed to be immersed in fuel and swells up.

Bummer, ended up ordering the right hose from the ebay link bee-utey sent, which means the disco is going to be parked up all long weekend, can't believe know one in Albany carries this hose, and most dealer/ workshops said they had never heard of submersible fuel line and just used normal line...must be a lot of disasters waiting to happen out there??

By taking the gas out, did you mean petrol? If you had bought the proper pump in the first place all this would not have happened. But, thats how you learn.

Gas, as in LPG. His LPG tank lives over the petrol tank. The VN pump is a simple and cost effective conversion, only no-one seems to know about submersible fuel hose. Local mechanics/counter jockeys only have HolForNisYota knowledge and are no use. AULRO to the rescue once again. Knowledge is gained at the expense of lost time, way it goes. Replacing the pump with a genuine, expensive OEM assembly is not a path to greater knowledge, only poverty.

you can use normal EFI hose in the short term, but it doesnt last long before becoming balooney and holey. 3 months if you're lucky but usually long enough to complete a trip or get you home.

As bee utey said, the gas is 3 joined scuba type tanks that live above the access to the fuel pump. The price quoted from a LR supplier for a new unit " which they said was non genuine"was $290.00 the Bosch unit $110.00 incl, freight and now $40.00 for the RIGHT fuel line..also I've learnt heaps, thanks to this forum, and could do the whole job in under 1/2 an hour now instead of half a day :-). This time I turned off the gas and ran it on gas till it stopped and took the fuel cap of letting out all the pressure, every thing was still spotless and I knew what spanner a sockets to use . SO now I could get. A pit crew job as fuel pump changer when land rover enters the v8 car of the future racing ....Gary
