Easiest way is to disable the standard central locking, and buy yourself one of the kits that Supercheapauto sells.
Couple of hours labour, and about $100 for the kit, and you're laughing. Or at least giggling a little.
Is it possible to covert a D1 with manual (key operated from drivers door) central locking, to remote fob?
If so, what's involved?
Alternatively does anyone know of anyone who sells LR key blanks with a built in LED in the base so its easy to find the keyhole in the pitch dark ?
Found these but not sure how they attach to key / whether they would fit)

It shouldn't be a drama at all. I've had it done on my old corolla when the immobiliser had to be replaced ( it had key central locking standard) and alsoa complete remote system retrofitted to my GTV6 in 2000. Any half competent auto sparkie or alarm installer will be able to do it. The only complicating factor will be if your disco has the factory alarm, however if it does then you should would have remote locking.
Cheers
Steve
