Land Rover Discovery Range Rover V8 Manifold Gasket | eBay
Have you tried doing up the bolts yourself? One 9/16 socket, short extension and a ratchet, do it for next to nothing.
Forgot to say that it was gaskets, bolts etc.
We don't have a garage or carport to work in so its all out on the grass & even though I live in the so called Sunshine State it's been anything but LOL.
I didn't realise they (gaskets) are as cheap as the ebay link that bee utey put up, might have to look into it now though.
Okay okay I know, time to hit myself on head with saucepan![]()
, all I had to do was tighten the 2 rear exhaust manifold nuts/bolts up (they were surprisingly loose) & wall-ah noise gone. I've checked all the others now & they were alright, just gotta figure out this on-again off-again idling prob. Learning more & more which is a good thing right LOL, thanks guys.
Well here's something new, I've been wondering about an overheating prob it's had & was really pulling my hair out, well what's left anyway. I was on a trip towing a small van (pop-top as a bit of a shake down trip) & was really having serious overheating probs. When I was stopped on the side of the road browsing through the Haynes manual I noticed a pic of the fan & thought to myself, self this doesn't look right, so asked someone else who was in the rest area for their input.
We both agreed the fan was blowing the wrong way, it was blowing forward through the radiator. So I found a local mobile mechanic & he came out & had a look, he just laughed & laughed then said I had an EA Ford fan blade on it & yes without even starting it, it was blowing the wrong way. So had to park it up at a place called Bororen for a couple of days till he could get one sent up from Brissy, $248 later, $130- fan, $30- delivery & $80 labour it was done & boy what a difference, temp guage didn't move of about 1/4.
I think when I bought this in Jan 13 the reason it was so cheap was they couldn't fix this, now I just have to hope it hasn't done any serious or lasting damage.
Mate, my heart goes out to you, sooo many problems, but you have persevered. now that you have fixed everything I'm sure that you will have many hours of trouble free motoring. Sorry I cant be more positive, but it is a Land rover! LOL Seriously, you've done well I would say! Onya mate.
Not quite everything, have a small auto box prob & maybe leaking injectors to go (for the moment anyway) LOL![]()
But, Steelo, the list is getting shorter!
Keep at it.

The ford viscous coupling and fan is/was a common budget fix for a failing viscous unit and cheaper than the original, i wasnt aware that the fan blades were wrong direction but a lot of people on here have used this fix.
Glad to hear its getter better .
