Ok, what about axle & transfer box oils?
I used - Nulon 85w-140 premium extreme pressure oil, API spec GL-5
I've only just put it in a new car to me so I don't know how it's going to go as yet
From what I understand this doesn't matter between fuel types![]()
Hmm, that's contrary to any data I've seen.
OTR trucks can surpass 100,000km on an oil change using off the shelf premium HD syn oils.
A bloke I know had a DD60 Series engine pulled down by MTU in Brisbane as a demo at a seminar quite a few years ago.
This engine had done 1,000,000km on Delvac 1 @ an average of 96,000km oil change intervals, determined by Fe and soot levels using used oil analysis.
It used Donaldson ELF full flow filters and Mann-Hummel by-pass centrifuges (big versions of the type used in the TD5)
When stripped there was negligible sludge or buildup anywhere, but more importantly, all clearances and tolerances were within new spec, so it was reassembled and put back into service.
I can't comment, thats just what he told me.

Penrite HPR DIESEL 15 (15W-50) used in my 200TDi Disco 1![]()
Shell helix and luqi molli have done now for a while works well.
The bloke who owned the disco before me used that synthetic oil Royal Purple 10w40. He works for some oil company, so i get it about $10 cheaper if i buy it from him. So i just use the same, and have had no issues.
