Rear Tail Shaft Swap?
I have heard bits and pieces about swapping a RRC tail shaft into a disco 1 to get rid of the dreaded 'Rubber Doughnut'. Just chasing some more info
- Could someone let me know what the procedure is for the swap?
- Is it a straight swap?
- How hard are the shafts to come by?
- And do you think it would work out cheaper for me to have a transmission shop or similar to build me a custom tail shaft?
Thanks in Advance,
Dizza

You also need to get a new pinion flange and a spacer. I sourced them from a Disco/RRC front diff.
The shaft i found on ebay from somebody who was wrecking a RRC. or try a wrecking yard - triumph rover spares maybee. Not overly hard to come by.
I'd have no idea about the cost compared to a custom, but id guess DIY would be cheaper.
You can just buy a conversion kit e.g.
Land rover Discovery S1 Rear Tailshaft Conversion Kit | eBay
I dont know what the quality is like tho
Yes its a bolt on mod
