I had the same experience and I spent many hours under the car trying to figure out what the hell causes the feeling that the car is falling apart. I have new shocks and bushes.

I climbed under the car today and BINGO, there it was its not eh Bushes on the A-frame, but rear of the axle there are two attachments from the frame to the bottom of the boot (trunk), the bolts were so lose that the bushings didn't work at all ant the entire floor of the boot played up and down causing big whoomp on any bumps.

It took me 15minutes to tighten the bolts and the car is solid as a rock again.
I cant really picture were you mean, but ill climb under and have a look tomorrow, from memory, I dont remember seeing anything fromnthe rear of the axle, and not sure what you mean by boot, post a picture if you can

    Thanks
    Kevin

    I was under the car

On the right side of the car (looking forward) sick your head and a torch under the car in front of the rear wheel. Look toward the rear and over the rear axle.
You will see the rear crossbeam and the bolt that attaches the crossbeam to the bottom side of the floor of the cargo area.

On the other side (left) trace the tail pipe from real axle toward the rear, the pipe makes turn downwards to go under that crossbeam. Right behind the tail pipe you will find another bolt, kind of a tight space.

That's right. and my theory is that when you drive over the bump and the floor is not attached properly to the chassis it just acts as a big diaphragm, hence the dramatic whoop.

I even ordered new springs in search to fix the problem.
So there are two bushes on the chassis and then the funny attachment to the body and there is some rubber there too. Mine is shot.

Yeah, look at mine I have big rubber there. You have nothing, just a small washer. I also have rubber on the top where it attaches to the body.

(I just had major oil leak two days ago, if you haven't noticed

If you find the part number post it here. I tightened mine bolt for now, but the top rubber needs replacing for sure.
    Cheers mate.

That is what attaches the seatbelt mount to the chassis, rather than relying on the floorpan of the body to take the load.

There shouldn't be much relative movement there, if there is the body mounts want a close inspection.

After reading about your findings, I decided to have a look at the mounts on my Disco. They were loose and after tightening them, its as if I've tightened mine more than yours comparing the lengths of clean thread. I didn't have the noises like you describe. I appreciate you pointing these bushes out as I would have over looked them but from my findings after tightening i'd also recommend checking your body mounts or other reasons for excessive body movement
