Seems the Gods of electricity are conspiring again. New battery fitted, not turning starter. Couple of questions. Apartfrom the big cables from the batt and alt. are there any small blade connections Ive missed down there? Also anyone have a relevent wiring diagram for a '91 petrol disco please? Cheers

98% of all Land Rovers built are still on the road.
The other 2% made it home.
Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.
To determine if the starter is at fault or the power isn't getting to it, first follow the cables between the battery and the starter, make sure all the joints are clean and tight.
This is equally important for the entire earth return current path from where the starter is mounted, to the negative post of the battery.
After you are satisfied with that, check to see if there is power on the wire going to the starter solenoid.
.
Had this problem with my '98 Tdi, maybe similar on the V8, it was the spade connector on the solenoid of the starter that connects the starter switch (ignition key) to the solenoid, and it is in a "bugger" of a place to get to, but I removed the old spade connector from the very brittle wire and fitted a new one, problem solved.
And, come to think of it, had also the same problem on a '77 Rangie that we had years back, I think the heat under the exhaust manifolds has a bit to do with the problem.
Why cant I find a wiring diagram (coloured) for a '91 petrol disco dammit! I need to colour code the wires going into the coil,,,,the alternator,,,, and the starter! grrrrr
From memory that spade connector that had let the system down was the ONLY spade connector (female) on the back end of the starter solenoid, all other connections were of the "bolt on" type.
On the V8 it is tucked right up beneath the RH? exhaust manifold and was hard to get to, as it also is, though to a lesser degree on the Tdi engine.
