Sounds like a normal LT230 to me. Mine does the same, but it always has, so I've never let it worry me. It had over 300KKM on it when I did my engine conversion and I pulled the TC apart to freshen it up - no gears worn, just needed a couple of bearings and thrust washers. It's all back together now and does the same thing.
If it wasn't doing it before, then not sure. If you grab a driveshaft and turn it, there is a fair bit inside the TC to take up - the spider gears in the centre diff, then mainshaft gears, then the intermediate shaft gears, then the input shaft gears. All that adds up to a bit of play in these.
But, as you say, this is a new noise, then something may have worn more than it should. The spider gear shims are known to wear, and this would cause more lash in the box, but not something that would happen in one trip.
Cheers - Gav.
