Hi all,
Recently picked up a '93 D1. I WAS going to yoink the 200tdi engine out and land it squarely in under the bonnet of my Series 3, however the ladyship has decided that it would suite far better as a touring bus & 4wd knock about.
In any case, after repairing a dozen fuses, the central locking, clock, stereo, clutch slave, clutch itself replaced (), brake pads, rotors, brake system, flushing the coolant & oil, changing the filters one of which contained a half dozen baby mice drowned to death by what would appear to be the crossing of the worlds muddiest river, shocks,4 new tyres and a 2nd mortgage later.............
I've started on the more aesthetic and comfortable things! Of the most pressing is the wind noise at 80+kmph coming from the door seals. I can't seem to find a kit or the like to repair them, so I was wondering if someone else has had to repair these before and if so what they used and how they did it.
Second, when opening the car door it flys out - i've managed to keep it from annihilating another cars door for the moment but its getting a bit hairy. Is there a way to tighten up the hinges? Do the D1 doors 'latch' at certain stages of door opening?
Thanks, James.

I bought new seals straight from Rovacraft after trying some from clark rubber and not being happy with the result.
From memory it was a couple hundred for all the seals but It was worth it IMO

Heh I should say the reason clark rubber didn't work out was my fault, I just rocked up at a store and bought a length to test a door and didn't get the right one. looking at the online store I'd say the PINCHWELD DOOR SEAL #37 would be near perfect
DS spares in UK have all the seals you need
I've used the Clark Rubber seal and find it to be very close to the original... no issues whatsoever. As said previously, just make sure you get the right one. Pull off and cut a piece off of your old one to take into the shop and you'll be fine.
