I have one of these units but I cannot figure out how to set the buzzer off (an external one) I assume that I have the wiring correct - red wire from buzzer to terminal 5 and black wire to terminal 6. If the wiring is correct, how do you set the temperature at which the unit should fire up the buzzer?

also depends where you measure temp from.

from what ive learned if you measure at the head you will mostly always be 10C hotter than measuring at the thermostat housing. head can get up to 120C when loaded whilst the thermo housing will read 110C.

something to keep in mind when installing gauge.

Fantastic, thanks for that. I thought that it would have an internal circuit for power out to the buzzer. I just need to run a short lead from the positive power wire to the power input for the other input and voila!!

I fitted MadMan to mine and it also has a new designed cooler head. It operates quite cool and the sender is in the upper rad hose. I agree with Adam, cooler the better. No AC on and under 30C days it wont move past 79C, usually sits on 78C unless hills or towing. Hotter days without AC about 80C. AC increases it by 4-5C. Max I have had towing up hill with a heavy trailer on a hot day is 96C. EGT max was about 630C, usually runs around 400C - 450C.

what sort of temperatures do you get on each cap? say normal driving along a straight road, high, low?

i would have thought my head would get hotter than the 90ish degrees. it certainly feels very hot to touch. just want to make sure my earth is good and im getting correct values. i have my earth wire on one of the oil thermostat housing bolts to the block.

That is a good thing to remember thanks.
Feel better about times when I have seen high 90's in pretty hot conditions.
