    My 1 st Disco

I'm looking at buying my 1st Land Rover - it's a 1993 TDi Disco with 313k on the clock (asking price $5k ono). In the pics it looks fairly clean and tidy; I'm just wondering what possible issues I should look for when doing an inspection?

If it has the service book check for when timing belt was replaced, the gearbox in this model can fail so make sure it changes smoothly.
Otherwise check for anything you would on any vehicle of this age. It does look tidy so with any luck it hasnt been abused (much ) .

Thanks for the info. I don't think that I'll bother with this disco tho - I found that it has no service history to speak of, and the seller (a dealer) refused to let me take it for an independent inspection (RACT). I guess I'll keep looking....

Just drove my new toy home this morning.
D1, cost $2,000 a little over 200K on the clock
Clean and tidy for its age, does have a tight gearbox or change mechanism.
Next trick is to find room for it in the back yard, currently houses a pair of Commodores and my S3 still in rebuild.
Time to get rid of the older Commy I think.

North Hobart car yard ? I've been told its got engine issues...

There is (was) a 99 or 2000 in Launceston D2 for a similar price,

    Welcome

    Hi Meabas

    Welcome aboard to the forum.

That D1 looks tidy enough from the photo's and that bullbar with the winch is worth a bit as well, so that price would be about right for that vintage Disco in Hobart.

That Disco could be selling on consignment, which would explain the reluctance of the dealer to let you get a R.A.C.T check done.

If it's the Disco I am thinking it is, ask Justin Cooper about its service history and he should be able to give you a fair assessment of it's condition.

Took the new toy for its first outing today, after having our "local bloke" give it the once over for road worthy etc.

Just a quick ( well not so fast) run around Lake Bonny.
On the lake front sections, no made roads.
Deep sand, mud, wash aways, up hill and down dale.
A LOT more comfortable than the old S3 is for sure, did nothing overly strenuous, but I'm very impressed. The little turbo donk just pulled so nicely, that coil suspension is beautiful, love the constant 4WD.
Even the wife liked it. Comfy seats, nice warm, dry, radio going, sheer luxury.

Yep, I think I'm going to like this fancy new truck.

Way too many k's on the clock but fair for the price, i buy the D1 before this - much cheaper to repair if required.
