Discovery 1 Incorrect firing order
Hi guys after having my disco 1 1995 v8 for about 7 months now i decided to change out the leads and plugs in doing this had a hell of a hassle, we have found that the firing order that it was set at is
1-2-7-3-4-5-6-8
Clockwise the dizzy turns
The book states it should be
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
when we set the dizzy leads like this (as per book)the car doesnt even start
The car prior to my purchase has had the head replaced and a overhaul that comes with it, could this incorrect firring be the mechanics issue(slackness for setting the timming)?
it runs fine and doesnt splutter or anything and as i bought the car like that i thought it was fine, but after realising the order is wrong i would think that
as the book says different i could be severely loosing power and we all love more power :P.
we are looking into checking the tdc and completely going over this
consider me as a noobie and give me any tips or advice firstly in checking the Tdc and also comments on the reason(possible) or issue from the firing order.
i get 450kms out of a tank and thats driving fairly abrupt
i know there are a few posts already about the tdc etc and so on but as each situation can vary ever so slightly im posting my own thread,
thanks Auscoz

Unless you've got a foreign engine in there, the firing order should be 18436572 remembering the cylinder numbering is 1,3,5,7 down the passenger side and 2,4,6,8 down the drivers side. The numbers follow the connecting rod positions on the crankshaft from front to back.

You have the numbering on the wrong banks.
If you swap the numbering from one bank to the other you get:
1-2-7-3-4-5-6-8
So your original firing order was correct, you have just (somehow) confused left-right.
