Mines the daily drive, that is when I'm not trying to sort out some niggly little thing LOL, but have been pleasantly surprised by it. I previously have owned -
    a 89 2.6L 4cyl manual petrol 4 cyl Pajero,
    a 86 2.5L 4cyl diesel (import) auto Pajero,
    a 98 4.0L v6 auto petrol Explorer,
    a 01 4.0L v6 auto petrol Explorer,
    a 89 3.0L 6cyl manual petrol GQ Patrol,
    a 99 4.0L v6 auto petrol Explorer,
    & now a 96 3.9L v8 auto Disco 1.
I wanted a Disco 1 after the 1st Explorer but the powers that be said no, it was too old & under $10 000, & the Mrs really liked the luxury of the X's. Anyway I finally got my wish & even though it's the most "hands on" 4wd I've had but I wouldn't swap it, well maybe a G-wagon LOL.
The only one of my previous list that's as capable off road would be the 89 GQ with the great rear LSD. Comfort wise the X's win but not by all that much really. Nuh, I finally got the 4b I wanted & even though there has been some probs I'm more than happy.

ps Oh one of the conditions for getting a 4b was that my vertically challenged wife (4'11") could reach the pedals LOL, & you would be surprised at how many she couldn't.

Mine's my daily and I've had her for 16 years now.

There are a few signs of age but it has served me well so far and with continued TLC should continue to do so for some time.
