    Rpm @ 100kph for 3.9l V8

Hey everyone, just a quick question. What rpm are your Disco's sitting on when cruising at 100 kph? Like to get answer from standard and modified versions.

    Thanks in advance,
    Damo

Auto or manual? My auto sits at around 2200 at 100k. Standard tyre size.

Auto. Mine sits on 2400rpm at 100 but has 33's and 4.12 crown wheels & pinions.

Just thought this might be a little high but I hadn't driven it on a freeway for a while so didn't have anything to compare it too

    They will rev quite a lot - try a 3.5 in a 101 with standard gearing - 3,600 RPM at 100...

I think my RRC is at about 2,200 with 31" tyres, auto. I think he TC has slightly different gears though.

Formula is 60 x rpm/overall ratio x tyre revs per km.

2200 rpm (@100kph) std 3.9 v8 with Hi-flow exhaust on 245/75 M/T's. P.S...if I get 400k's to a tank I secretly high five myself with a little woot woot celebration, school runs and shopping trips normally tap out about 380 klm's off 80l fuel! ($120)

Digging up this old thread, as it interested me.

My disco sits at 2750 @ 100. Are the numbers above due to an upgraded gearbox or is my box not locking up? It is a standard v8 into the 4 speed.

sounds like your box in not locking up. Nan's D1 locks up at 74kph and mine at 76. (both gps readings, both '97 300TDi autos).

These all the same 4 speed zone 4hp22?

Further reading seems like my lock up is likely busted, but is an expensive repair. Oh well. No real highway duties anymore, just 4wding!

Does anybody know what I should be getting for a bog standard 3.9 5sp Disco1 at 100km/h. I think all of the abover were autos.

I understand mine has an uprated alternator which makes the tacho read wrong. Currently it is reading at just a fraction over 3000rpm at 100km/h which I don't think is accurate.
    Cheers
