    backdoor release handles

My backdoor release handles dont wont to work anymore.

Have pulled them apart and put them back together numerous times with no noticeable improvement.
Is it a case of getting all the plastic bits renewed, levers readjusted or just getting a whole new backdoor mechanism.
Dont wont to spend a fortune on it now that I have my L322.

Anyone got any suggestions as to getting it working properly.
    Thanks

    cheers

    p.s. its on 200tdi

In most door catches there is a small round spring that either breaks or stops being a spring, through use. When this happens the catch stops working. I picked up a 5 spring servicing kit (they are handed, 2 of one hand and 3 of the other) off the net (ebay) for under $50 delivered. Fitted the new springs to the doors that were playing up and no problems since

    To Medic455,
As far as I'm aware, there is no spring on any of the mechanisms for the door.I could be wrong, but dont think so.Looking in the manual, there is no mention of any spring in there either.
    Thanks anyway.

    cheers

Really, look harder they are a small round spring with a hooked leg each side, they are a complete ***** of a thing to fit. Goes in the lock just above the catch. Check out "x8rltd" on ebay, second page of items for sale 2/3rds of the way down the page (I could not get the link to post on my tablet) Your lock will be covered in all the usual grease and crap and they are only a tiny spring, but they play a big part in keeping the lock working

X2 for the spring have changed all on my disco over the years including the back door....

you often find when the spring is playing up though that the push button lock also drops a bit and you can't often unlock the door properly
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

I assume you have checked the child-proof lock isn't engaged.

I can also confirm that the spring is the key. Did mine a while back and I don't have any struggles opening doors. If you don't want to mess around with springs then you could get a lock mechanism from the wreckers. Just use the rear or passenger doors as they get less use than driver's door, normally.
It's better to regret the things you've done than those you haven't!
