    Are you running the correct length belt as there are two lengths.

    So yes talcum powder works very well to stop a belt squealing. Nice trick, still waiting on my belt but a big thanks for all the help and advice guys much appreciated.

    Well finally got the belt, and fitted it and the problem is now gone. But when comparing the two belts it appears the workshop that fitted the water pump fitted the wrong belt a 1997 tdi take a dyco 1580 and they had fitted a dyco 1575 so there ya go
