Yeah, sorry, but your Aussie 300tdi auto has the same engine as the manuals... you can thank our relaxed emissions rules and your mechanical injector pump for your loss of 8kW!

It's quite clear that you try and press your opinion, that an auto has a superior off road ability to a manual, on the forum, what you neglect to acknowledge, is what I first pointed out; it depends specifically on personal preference, user ability, and environment, there is no one size fits all transmission, as Land Rovers don't have double clutch automated manuals available. A manual may not suit you, for whatever reason, I won't make assumptions about your driving ability, but for me and many others, a manual is a far, far better option, it helps when you know how to handle a manual box

I'll stand by the statement that a decent driver can get so much more out of a manual than an auto, the reason so many people choose auto's is that they simple can't drive well. For rock crawling with big horsies, go auto, the power is available for the auto to soak up, for an all rounder a manual is far superior IMO.

For the record, I'm not telling anyone that has an auto to get a manual, they both have their merits.

    Cheers
    Will

If your speedo is broken, how do you know your fuel economy?

If you don't care what gear you're in and what your engine is doing then an auto is perfect.
If you do care they'll **** you off forever.

If you drive up mountain ranges they'll overheat both the gearbox and then the engine as the gearbox sheds heat into the radiator.

4 gears with a lockup on 4th is simply not enough unless you only drive on the flat. 6 in an auto is okay and means the TC can lockup most of the time. 8 is probably the point they are good.

But back to the OP's lag problem. I'd be looking for perished/damaged hoses to the boost compensator on top of the injection pump.

If they are okay, I'd be blowing into the boost compensator to see if it leaks.

I don't think it's got anything to do with turbo Dougal. This comes on as I fully released the clutch, before it reaches 1700 rpm where turbo kicks in.

The turbo starts working just off idle and producing tiny amounts of boost. What you're feeling is the point where it starts the vicious cycle of building boost.

Have you checked all fuel and air filters/hoses?

    Check intercooler hoses.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
