    4BD1 Disco

Hi Everyone in the Disco spot!

I am thinking of buying a good V8 Disco (preferably with dual airbags) and fitting a 4bd1 as a 'fuel saving improvement' Would I be stupid in thinking that my dreams may be possible with all that extra weight over the front axle with the airbag system for engineering? If this has already been covered here please just tell me to shut up and try again with the search button or preferably let me know what thread it is.

Any comments or guidance would be magic guys.

    Cheers,
    Brian.

I can't see any reason why changing engines would affect the airbags.

The bigger issue you will have is a D1 with dual airbags is probably too new for a 4BD1 - you will need to use a newer engine instead (4HE1 etc..)

How does that work? What is the newest vehicle you can fit a 4bd1 to? The 1995 disco's had airbags.

    Cheers,
    Brian.

1995/96 was the start of Euro 1 regs (ADR 70/00).

So in theory you can fit a 4BD1 to a 95 disco HOWEVER many states and/or engineers won't let you fit an earlier engine to a later model vehicle. i.e. the last 4BD1s were manufactured around 1989/90.

Ok. May have to go with a newer isuzu idea. Pitty the isuzu's after the 4bd1 have the exhaust on the other side.

    Cheers,
    Brian.

The year of manufacture is cast into the RH side of the block below the injector pump
