    Bloody radiator hose !

So I just replaced a genuine radiator hose that was only 11 months old with another genuine hose that only lasted 70 kms then developed a leak at the lower section. WTF where they thinking having a set up like that? Is there any way of repairing these on the road? I was thinking of doing a lap of the country, but now after this I am having second thoughts about using the disco. Has any one else had this happen?

I have had a couple of hoses leak/split over the years so I now carry some special hose tape. Can't remember the name (I'm sure someone will pipe in) but if you pull it taut as you wrap it, then it sticks to itself (self-vulcanising?) and does a very good job of sealing leaks. I used it on a hose split last year and while it took me a couple of weeks to get around to replacing the hose, it held up fine in the meantime. Ask at an automotive store and I am sure they will have it.

Fisrt make sure that you are not over pressurising for some rason. Lap of the country you wouldn't start without spare set of belts and hoses anyway i take it!

    Hoses

They have sprung a leak where the smaller hoses T off. I know the tape you are talking about . The first hose just had a slight leak but the second one is pouring out. I just think it is a faulty hose . The pressure is fine I pressurised it and it starts to leak at around 10 psi. It is just frustrating that land rover thought it was a good idea to design the hoses like that .

Among other land rover good ideas, that one is no so bad But yeah, there is no hope to find similar hose to patch it up in need. Maybe that part of design was driven by spare parts sales people

I'm going to make up a stainless steel elbow I think and do away with the vulcanised joint . I'd rather trust a hose clamp than a rubber joint

If you are talking TDI then there is a hose kit from UK that uses a tee fitting and then standard shape hoses.
