no I haven't yet, i've tried the hose off the back of the reg but not blocked off, ill give it a go tomorrow!

Update, went out to see Brian at Land Vehicle Spares.....got a second hand fuel reg, drove back (a 4.5 hour round trip), fitted the fuel reg and nothing has changed!, the land rover gods hate me.....if anyone has any more constructive suggestions than my flatmates "burn it", then please feel free to chip in!!

Sounds like the ecu sending too long a pulse signal to the injectors. No idea why, or how, but it seems you've looked everywhere else.
Did you say you used a Nanocom to check the ecu? Not having any experience with Nanocom, I don't know whether you can adjust things like injection dwell times on your particular engine. Is it the original ecu?
