Installed a raised led brake light.
The original one was damaged when I broke the window and the new window (out of a 93) doesn't have the metal strip on it for the brake light.

Decided to fix a few little things on our new 1998 D1.

They include ; fr passenger door switch not switching courtesy light on ( power had come off and cable was short ) right rear door handle not opening door from inside ( actuator had come out of plastic fitting as it had split a little ) fixed with super glue and a cable tie , replaced TC level and hand brake lever gaiters , left rear door lock button was dropping and could not open door from outside always ( lock tensioning spring had broken) so just fitted a loop of wire behind the pivot section to make some artificial ( but not too much ) resistance.

Installed a work light on the spare wheel carrier

Made and installed a work light bar for the spare wheel carrier. Used 25x40x3mm angle and 20x20x2mm SHS. I should have used 25x30mm angle as the bar rubs in the spare at the moment. I didn't have a welder so used lock nuts and bolts. My son gave the light to me as a birthday present.

The work light cable is run to the dash but no power as yet. I ran it under the door sills on the driver's side. I'll set up a separate fuse block under the dash and run power to that and then any accessories off that fuse block. Next week's job.

(Also managed to snap a spare wheel carrier stud so will look at getting that fixed.)

Future improvements are to make it telescopic when I have more time.

    Some photos for those interested.

    Cranked Trailing Arms

After having parts sitting at home for a week I finally had time to fit my Roadsafe Trailing Arms and adjustable pan-hard rod.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get the APT Extreme Duty Coil Retainers in.

The Trailing arms ended up pushing the axle back about 1cm which makes it the guard spacing a lot better.

After being at the babysitters (mechanic) for a month or so, I have got "my" white TDI back on the road.

I purchased it late last year as a non-runner and left it with my mechanic as a slowtime fill in job. It needed headwork done and a new alternator and I had other minor stuff (new hoses, clamps, belts, etc.) done at the same time, but is now registered.

I love that front bar! I really want one but i just cant justify spending that much cash. I'll build my own one day! Your car looks nice a clean!
