Finally bit the bullet and had the transfer case dropped out, replacing all seals.
Sick of having to witness a mess gathering underneath and up the tailgate when travelling at speed for long distances, and then having to check the oil level in case top-up is needed.
Hopefully all will be dry under there now!!

Did not do a single thing to it today despite having an engine hanging in my shed and a car without an engine sitting in my driveway.
I did however order parts which is sort of like doing something.
Did also have to look through old harddrives and found this old pic of my beast.

Was a nice pic across the road from my house. A lot has changed from then. I dare not share a pic as it currently stands.
But i have added my own home made snorkel, rock sliders and a custom rear bar. Few other things like winch and roof racks, roof colored black now and whole car soon to be.
Just reviving a thread i like.![]()
Spend the day looking for a damn bolt.

One of those suckers has managed to vanish never to be found again..... Or until i have the engine in and mounted to the box, perhaps then said bolt will reappear. But until then it is gone.
Flippin waiting till monday to go to the bolt bloke as i have no bolts that will do the job. Damn was going to put the engine in today.
But i did do something!
One could say it had bolted, but that is another bad dad joke. I finished of the things needed for a road worthy. Adjusted the left front wheel bearing, replaced a transfer case mount, replaced the rear brake pads and hopefully found where the oil was leaking at the front of the motor. Might have been a pipe near the oil filter. Nipped it up a bit. Then I took the disco to the car wash and cleaned underneath. Has not been a lot that needed to be done for the road worthy. Last weekend was the D bushes in the front sway bar and some tie rod end boots that needed replacing.
Cheers Hall
Went down to the local bolt bloke to replace the bolt which ran away with the spoon.
Turns out he does not have the same bolt, either a little longer or a little shorter. Slightly different heads also.
No biggy i will buy all 4 and replace. Yep better get the slightly longer ones as shorter on a flex plate seems scary.
TOO LONG!!!! Flippin hell.
Back to the local bolt bloke today to get some more SMALLER ones!!!!!
Did contemplate cutting down the ones i got but fear i will cause a balance issue so putting my hands deeeeeeeeeep in my pockets to get another 4 bux to buy more.
Put another engine in today.
Used my winch and an A frame to do it. Worked a treat hahaha.
Now to get the bugger in properly and running.
Could not get that damn 3.9 to sit level. Gave up trying.
Its mounted now though. She does sit a little down on the drivers side though and no matter how many times i said **** you it would not correct. See what happens when torque is applied. May correct that.
Did the wiring loom, seems my old injectors are different to the ones on this engine. No biggy just the spring thing that holds the electric connector to the injector.
The new ones are great. Push and release. My ones are ****e. Takes a load of work to release them using small screw drivers and twisting blah blah.
Had quite a bit of wire twisting, soldering, shrinky dinking and taping today. Cleaning stuff up.
Did cut the tranny line today so i could fit a flexible hose to it and move it around the winch i recently fitted. Not sure it will work but used to many moons ago. Just cut hard line, flared it and got some rated hose and clamped it with new worm clamps. Hopefully it works. We shall see when the old dunger gets started again.
Got old water hoses replaced and water system up to scratch today also. (thanks to Roverlord off road spares)
Not much more to do before the old girl is kicked in the guts again.
