Sounds good. Recommend a rust hunt, particularly in footwells, under the carpet, luggage area, firewall, around the roof opera windows etc.
Check when the timing belt was last replaced.
    Change all fluids.
Check hoses and change any are suspect.
Flush radiator and check the cooling system is working properly.
Fit +50 headlight bulbs for a big improvement.
    Bushes, shocks and springs.
    Tune engine.
    General maintenance.

    what discomick said!

ps. how long do you press the rear screen wash for?
Sometimes it can take a while for the water to travel through the length of the tubing.

    Always gets me too.
I suppose if it still don't work after a 5-10sec press, listen for the sound of the pump whirring, it should be obvious.

Recently replaced the alternator following the hose clamp on the water pump breaking a nd hose popping off and dumping coolant all over it. Luckily AFTER a drive. Not sure if that ****ed the alternator but no doubt didnt help. Put new main rad hose on at same time...do you think I could get the clamp/hose to seal at the waterpump? No....so siphoned some coolant out to inspect the hose and sealing surface on the pump...and in the process ran a few more cups worth of coolant over the new alternator! Hope that hasnt harmed it?
Sanded, cleaned water pump sealing surface, put a new and better clamp on and refilled.
Will gind out today if I have fixed the leak.

Dropped into British car components in nth melb on my way home, bought some tie rod ends up and finally a new rotoflex.
Tie rods are delphi and were quite cheap, the cheaper after market ones have the grease nipple on them. Must be so you can keep them topped up as the grease leaks out of them lol.
Unfortunately the rotoflex was little too late, turns out a chunk of the flange on the diff has broken off. Lucky its only a little and I can center the bolt still, so im going to drag the welder out and give the bolt a few tacks to keep it in place.
My other thought was to drill the bolt hole out more and insert a sleeve from my old rotoflex and weld that in place instead. Im gonna have to buy another flange but it rather but one that suits a uni joint and finally go down that path.
Hopefully the little one goes to bed early and I can get the tie rod ends sorts tonight also What did you do with or to your Disco today

Much better to drive now, I havnt heard the V8 rumble for a while now.. Steering is much better also hopefully a tighten of the steering box and a wheel alignment will take the last of the slack out of the wheel.

    Cheers jim

Been driving to Daylesford the last few days, noticed my fuel economy was through the roof, like 101 "economy"What did you do with or to your Disco today
Checked the timing, the dissy nut had slack and had dropped to about 4 BTDC. Always glad when its somthing so simple🖒
My replacement vac advance diaphram developed a split in it a while back, where I pushed the bolt through it, I should have drilled the nitrile rubber instead probably wouldn't have split.
I used a piece of old lilo material a few months back because i couldn't find my nitrile rubber sheet and its still holding up great What did you do with or to your Disco today

MAF still reads 1.0v like it should

Hopefully get at least 400ks a tank now What did you do with or to your Disco today

Last weekends effort, replace rear A frame ball joint. Much better to drive, knock in the rear gone, clutch shudder gone and now feels like the rear shocks are actually doing something.

This weekend effort, remove drivers seat and strip out the broken base frame to weld it up. Think i'm sitting about 3" higher now.

Finally serviced the car. got a whole weekend to myself. All gearboxes, diffs, engine, filters, fluids. Checked valve clearances all good still. did the wheel spinning trick. theres a lot of freeplay though. the wheel turns about 10 or more cm either side when in 4th gear. seems to be at the front diff. normal? the r380 drain plug was insanely hard to take off. had to buy a big f off spanner and use all my leg strength. Checked all the rear lights and changed globes. too rear bumper off finally too to fix the broken light where some guy rear ended it. going to give it a paint before it goes on and got new end caps too.

felt beautiful to drive. and my oil pressure sensor working again too. cleaned it all up put loctite 677 on it and now hopefully will keep working. made sure the rocker cover had a good seal too. lots of oil leaking out of it. as well as my vacuum pump. next job.

    is the Vac pump leaking?
    If so, from where?
If at the core plugs, tip from me is to seal them up with Loctitie's Orange sealant.(can't say if any other goop will or won't work, but Loctites Orange coloured stuff definitely did for me.
Annoying not being able to see the black oil against the black body of the pump too.
I only used this orange stuff because that's what I had(and prefer to use), and it's good to be able to see black oil staining(or NOT any more) the side of the vac pump.

All I did was to smear it only a flat screwdriver, and then smear it off that, onto the coreplugs on the vac pump. Easy as, no mess, 5 mins work.
I've read they can also leak from the rivets.

My last oil leak is my oil pump/thermostat housing O ring.
Now that shed it built, I'm no longer punishing myself pretending to know how to build stuff .. back to pretending to be a mechanic again!
Hopefully fix this final concrete staining annoyance.
    Arthur.
