Got around to checking my winch that i took off 3 years ago to service. Tested motor and its working fine, checked gearbox and its still clean and greased as it was 8 years ago. Just need a couple of replacement cables as the originals were corroded in the fittings.
Not bad for a 25yo warn thats not so worn.

mounted the clutch pressure plate yesterday and the fork to the gearbox end. put the two boxes back together now aready to put back into the vehicle.
word of warning with the valeo HD clutches. the space between the bolt and the body of the pressure assembly is very tight. you need to make sure the whole thing is central so that all bolts have maximum clearance. i undid mine 3 times and ended up doing it up two turns at a time for each bolt to get it to go in right. either that or you need a very skinny socket.
did the rear main last weekend. hopefully wont leak as bad as it used to. put a few before and after pics. actually the before pics wont load because i have them on another recent thread.
I Installed Terrafirma front radius arms 3 degree adjusted, hoping my vibration might be gone.

Hi Will
2" king spring lift with Bilstein Shock absorbers. Then I got the vibe.
I shortened the rear link arms thinking it was a doughnut issue, as I was chewing doughnuts. Solved the doughnut issue but not the vibe.
I dropped both props separately and the vibe disappeared when the front prop was disconnected. So I checked adjusted wheel bearings, replaced all the bushes, new steering damper. Frustration levels increasing. Installed Double cardan front prop still vibrating and now I'm hoping the new radius arms will fix it. I haven't had it on the open road but it feels different so I'm hopeful.
Cheers
I had new engine & gearbox mounts fitted at the same time the spring spacers were installed. There is a vibration at idle that I don't recall being there before the work was done. Interestingly once over 90 km/h everything smooths out. I wonder if there is supposed to be a rubber or plastic insulating cup the coil spring sits in? Clutching at straws eh![]()

Whilst i have the gearboxes out it was recommended to me to clean out the parts in the little box on top of the r380 which select the diff lock. So i did.
Pulling apart was fairly straightforward but putting it back was a bit tougher. Took me bout an hour to get the circlip back on. The rest not so bad.
Wouldn't let me attach two pics so here it is deconstructed
Replaced holed poly air bag. It's had a very slow leak for over 6 months.
Modified exhaust...now it just has a small straight through centre muffler. End muffler was holed and flexible joint was failing.
Hardly any difference to note and not obvious if any performance change yet.
