    New Drivers side door latch

Hi all thanks for the great advise on this site.

I've just replaced my drivers door latch on my Disco 300TDi Mar95 as it would only open if the lock was pulled up from the inside as you pull the handle, or the key turned to full unlock from the outside before opening the outside handle.

Its a bit of a job replacing the latch, need to remove the window and all the inside trim.

I broke a little metal clip that keeps the lock button arm (2.5mm wire) connected to the latch. Sort of like a little washer with a clip hook on it. Does anyone know what they are called, cant buy one if you dont know its name. A kit of these would be very handy as they are all 20 years old now and theres too much movement for 100% reliability.

Anyway the locking is now dodgy, as without a retaining clip its kinda loose. The lock arm actually came undone yesterday and I could not open the door from inside or out, coat hanger fixed that .

Also I had to re-adjust the central locking actuator arm to engage, disengage the lock, Until I adjusted it 5mm away from latch I had the symptoms of locking then auto unlocking which was frustrating.

Did the bar have the winch frame with it? it goes behind the front face of the bar and will stiffen the structure fairly well.

If you don't have it, I should be able to re-design it for you given a few dimensions.... (I used to work for TJM and owned a D1 at the time)

Yeah if you bolt the winch straight to the bar like that and use it in anger, you will bend the bar guaranteed.

The winch frame is easy to make if you are interested.

With the latch that came in the kit - from Rijidij of course

Im still looking into whether it needs more support for the weight at that end. Going to carry; Spare tyre, 20lt dieso jerry, high lift and shovel.
