Well, after the longest head gasket job in known history, I got the thing going, just in time to see if it will break down at Wombat. Oh, and renewed my RACV Total Care!

Fitted a snorkel today. Must say for a car that was meant to be reasonably well made there is some rather dodgy bits here and there. There is a plastic inner guard piece that I removed to get to the snorkel studs. There are two braces coming from the guard. How was the brace attached to the plastic? Screws as you would expect? Oh no Land rover can find a nasty way to do it. A blind split stud pushed through the plastic and brace then bent over. Other than that the fitment was all good. Next is the air box. Some custom work here because of the gas system and my plan to fit a second battery.

My time with this Land Rover has taught me that the design was exemplary. The implementation of that design and follow through, is a bit wanting.
Jeremy Clarkson said it best in the Top Gear Bolivian Special. I now truly know what he meant.
Still, I love this car. It's got character. Even if it is a character I want to drive out into the outback and set on fire half the time.
