Well after fitting 265 75 16 cooper stt and doing camel cut next issue was that the spare didn't fit the carrier.
So after much reading simple answer flip said carrier. Did this and very little change. I suspect this is because mine is one of the very first d1 built and most that do this are d2.
So final answer was to flip carrier line up middle holes and redrill other 4. This still left the issue of the tyre being hard up against rear door. 3mm flat alloy bar to the rescue. Once spaced out with said bar and some strip adhesive foam tyre now sits neatly.
Re aligned wiper arm to clear carrier and job done.
Was going to take pics along the but forgot.

That is a nice job but a lot of work, all I did was put another set of nuts on the carrier before the wheel then fit the wheel and all was good.

Keep the mods coming and the pics.

I am driving a commodore at the moment so am living through you guys and your mods:-) :-)

At home in the shed with a blown head gasket and cooked motor :-(

It happened about 6 weeks before I was due to come up here for work and I couldn't afford to get it fixed.
So I bought a commodore from a mate and towed the old van up here with it.
The 95 commodore required repairs on he way up but the 43 year old van made the trip easy :-)

Now I am 1000km from Cape York and don't have a vehicle to get there :-(

    Such is life

Not done yet, but got all the bits today to run some 6B&S cable from the aux battery to the rear for an Anderson plug to charge camper trailer battery on the run, plus to hook up solar while parked.

Cursed it for failing to start and making me miss work. Both batteries are charged but it doesn't crank when the key is turned (all the electrics come on and work though). It did the same thing yesterday morning but eventually fired up and then gave me no more problems. I suspect it has something to do with the time it spent in a deep puddle when wheeling the other day, like perhaps the starter motor or solenoid got some water in them and are acting up. Its only been twice now this has happened but both times I've been parked pointed up hill, no problems when starting on level ground yesterday (water running to the back of the starter motor and shorting out a connection?).

Trying to figure out if pulling this starter motor is within my abilities and tools at hand or if I need to get it over to a shop somehow and cry for my wallet.

Edit: Oh, and the park brake just decided to join in on the fun. It's all floppy and doesn't engage anything until halfway up, and then when it does start to catch doesn't want to release.

I would kill for an old 70's F150 right now. Rare it is when I ever had one of those give me such mechanical woes, and when they did at least they were super easy to work on. (Though I do realize these problems were likely self inflicted and not the cars fault, I just wish it was less prone to suffer at the hands of an idiot and easier to fix when it did).
