300Tdi Fuel Injection Pump o-ring repair.
Just finished doing the in-situ Injection Pump Distributor head o-ring repair...was dripping ~ 5 secs interval. Used the Dieselgeek kit (took few weeks to get here) and tutorials from TDI Golf youtube vid and various advice from you all here. All went well. Major problem initially was a very tight flare fitting nut on the pump end #1 cyl. Hard to believe but started to round the nut!!. So stopped the job lashed out for a 6 point 17mm flare and some heat and finally got it loose. Nut didnt seem gaulled or anything nasty. Curly job this one in the garage for my eyes,....was great to finally prime it up and see it crank up (without sheering inside)!
This job pretty well followed straight up after doing the timing belt/pulleys and front crank seals. As many may relate to, getting underneath, leaning over the engine bay for hours, sometimes feel like I'm over this maintenance stuff each year. But when you consider the simplicity, cheap cost of bits for what are still super comfy capable cars to drive, will stick with the old girl for a bit longer yet.
