Added some new stickers to the car. I may need to 'correct' the one under the Tdi decal by crossing out the 'un'.

im looking at doing this soon too. did you replace with rubber or poly? always thought poly was the way to go and some posts here recommended the polypro kits and was looking at different ones, until last night read on here comments from some of the big guns saying that poly bushes will just break the rest of the car and not to use them. so am confused now. the people which posted against poly are ones to be listened to, so i'm swinging towards rubber again.

Fitted the Hickey winch Saturday. Today I made a plate to mount the hawser, modified mount to suit plate and fitted plate and hawser. Now I just have to fit a second battery, winch solenoid, controller socket and the rope. Well gosh darn , after listing what`s still to be done I`m depressed. Getting the second battery fitted is going to be the PTA bit.

Got the term wrong in my last post, should have been fairlead instead of hawser. Any way today I have mostly made a aluminum one which is better than the original cast iron one for rope. Got the slot done, four counter bored mounting holes and got to doing the radius. Then the bearing on the end of the router bit gave way. So have to replace the bearing and finish the radius.

Pulled the center console of the D2 apart and discovered the reason for the floppy high/low range/diff lock lever and why I was unable to select low range or diff lock.

A sheared roll pin that connects the selector shaft to the lever.
Checked through my 'bits-n-pieces' and amazingly found the necessary 4mm roll pin.

So one more job crossed off the list.

Fitted a UHF radio and aerial. That was easy enough. Managed to disconnect a couple of gas system wires under the dash. Now that was a bit of a sod. Turns out they gas mob that did the work had done a bit of a doggy job. They had found a spare socket under the dash and used that for power, instead of taking power from the fuse board. They had used a fuse holder with blades each end. Plugged the fuse holder into the spare socket then ran a wire from the fuse. That is all good till the fuse comes out of the socket. Which of course had me wondering where the fuse holder connected to.
The other wire was a earth wire. They had cut a existing earth wire and tapped into that earth. Why ? they could have run a earth to any metal point.

Jacked up the front diff looking for a reason for my sloppy steering, gave RH wheel a shake and noticed the tierod on the pitman arm was wobbling around .
A quick nip up and hopefully back to normal and ready for its trip up to Wombat next Friday.
