What did you do with or to your Disco today

As the title says, a thread you can highlight your little triumphs repair wise or trick you have learnt or somewhere you went for a little jaunt. Anyway I'll kick it off by saying I FINALLY got the brake light and cruise control switches sorted. Next weekend I'm off for a ramble in the East coast forests of Tassie.

    Fixed key fob

Dragged the soldering iron out and fixed the loose battery clip in the fob. Great feeling when I tested it inside the house, and heard the car lock from about 10 metres away!

Adjusted the fuel pump the other day, and sorted a few other odds & sods as well. All Good!

Smile Rescue Disco at your service.

Whilst driving back home to Cooktown late this afternoon from a picnic/barbeque with friends in the bush at Helenvale FNQ, (near where the famous Lions Den Hotel is on the top end of the Bloomfield track), we rescued a couple of indigenous ladies who had been stuck there all day, extricated their half buried Ford Falcon sedan from a creek bed. All in a days work for an old Tdi. Gaz

found out why there was heat coming in from the steering column, rubber seal around the main wire harness had come away from the fire wall, old age, so I silicone it back into place and now for lunch and a test drive out to bribie island northern beach.

This week ... Serviced Auto Trans including filter. Replaced Timing belt & tensioners. Used the opportunity to clean all the gunge from the tranny support cross member, flush the engine, replace the coolant & the octopus hose. Rob.

You should really look at MUD as Grinding Paste which prematurely wears out uni-joints and oil and grease seals, good stuff, regards Frank.
