Spark Issues
Hi all,
well I'm having Spark and coil issues with my 3.9 D1, I have recently did BeeUtey's Bosch conversion, the trouble is I cannot stop the coil arcing between the + and - posts to the centre post, I have changed it with 3 different coils all new and 3 brand new coil leads and still it arcs it does not effect the running too much except that at cruising speed of about 90kmph it have a very subtle miss, also the idle is a bit erratic and sits on about 650rpm then jumps to 800rpm then back again, mainly after the engine is at running temp, I'm going to redo all the earths on the weekend but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of were else to look

Check you haven't lost the carbon brush out of the centre of the distributor cap. People often break them when trying to get the cap back on. Adjust your spark plug gaps to 0.8mm. What brand of leads are you using? I've never has this trouble with decent quality leads with tightly fitting boots. Get some dielectric grease from your local parts store. It's used to stop leads from getting stuck to plugs. Example:
Permatex Dielectric Grease Electrical Contact Tune UP Grease Lubricant 9 4G | eBay
