    D1 top speed?

I have just had a major service- incl (timing belt, valve clearance) on my tdi D1 (which has 256k on it). Since then it has felt marginally sluggish and the egt's marginally higher than previously - or is it my imagination and the onset of the warmer weather? On the spur of the moment on a fairly flat stretch of secondary bitumen I wound her out ( eventually) to just on 140 kph ( i know this is close to correct) with egt at close enough to 700.
This is with 31 inch muddies, a larger ( Jase's?) intercooler and a mild fuel pump tweek a few years ago. It also had BBar, winch, dual batts and a storage box in the back-so a bit heavier than standard.
It just feels more sluggish than it used to and cruising egt's maybe 50 higher.
Do any other 300tdi D1 drivers know their top speed?

About 145-146 ks usually running 235/70/16, dual batteries, roof rack / awning, snorkel, winch and bar and rear drawers. I'm getting to 80 ks in about 12-13 secs from standing flat to the floor. No tweaks, 343,000 ks 97 tdi, cheers.

I just remembered why I put up with V8 fuel consumption, after a new engine went in and had a few km on it I took it to 165 and got scared, 2 inch lift and sway bars removed... It was still pulling.

Overtaking from 100 it pulls to 140 in about 10 to 15 seconds

it is a tweaked 4.6 though, would love the economy of the 300 though

The only way I could keep accelerating past 165kph in my manual '98 300tdi D1 would be off a cliff with a tailwind! I would love a few more ponies under the bonnet to make overtaking a little easier, but I am happy enough with other benefits of the diesel engine. I rack up quite a few km's so it's economy is most welcome. Mine is pretty standard on 235/70/16's and can get above 150 but that's pushing it. I wouldn't want to run it that hard for very long.

155kmh flat to the floor on the Stuart Hwy near Alice. 300tdi with a/c on. standard in every way. a few years ago. Not sure what she will do now.
Mind you the fuel economy was up around 13-13.5L/100km. only downside.

I saw a you tube clip of a 4.6 p38 on an autobahn, and he pulled 220kph - quite impressive.
I know at 155 in the 4.6 there's plenty of top end left. However dads getting over a 1000k per tank on his 300 d1... ouch.

15 seconds that's a long time to be on the wrong side of the road these days
