Has anyone relocated clock and hazard switch in their D1

    Hi,

I'd like to float a idea out there for considered input. I'm toying with dash real estate to work out where to fit an Engine Watchdog. Essentially I was thinking of moving the clock and hazard switch across to where the coin tray is and then insert the Engine Watchdog into where the clock/hazard switch was. I pulled the clock out and there were 4 wires running to the clock and about 8 or 10 to the hazard switch. Has anyone done such a move and if so how did you go about it and would you say it was successful?

I have an electric override brake unit near my left knee already and switches in the switch unit below the clock. I could put the Engine Watchdog below those switches as an option as well but before I tackle it I want to consider all alternatives.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

    hi,
    with the scarce replies ....
I have seen pix of exhaust temp readouts in the block under the hazard switch, my own clock is u/s so was going to use this position for a switch..or possibly on the other side using coin tray or ash tray as a switch block.
I think its a good idea given the lack of room elsewhere.

    Hi Robbo,

Thanks for the reply. Ben (Look) PM'd me and he has relocated his clock by getting a donor clock and hazard light wiring loom. He got the maximum length of those sections off the donor loom and cut them off. Then he spliced them into his loom. The advantages are you still have the original loom in place and that you have the same plugs for the relocated clock/hazard button. I'll end up doing the same once I acquire the section of loom.

Not quite the info your after but I completely removed the clock (there is one on the stereo) and modified the space to fit a madman (the roundish one) and left the hazard switch where it is. In an earlier attempt at Dash modification (pre madman) I removed the coin pocket or whatever it is on the left side of the dash and modified it to accept a temperature gauge. The modification is good I just need to find a suitable place in the engine bay to monitor head temp. The wire just needs lengthening.

I find the madman to be not in an ideal place for easy viewing.

The wiring I modified to suit my needs.

Hope that is of some use.
    Cheers
