    Disco 1 dash switches

    G'Day i wanting to put extra switches on my speedo surround so i can have spot lights light bar and fuel transfer pump switches on the surround
    has anyone done this before as the switches i want to fit are larger than the standard cutouts in the surround by a few mm
    what have people done to make larger switches fit did you fiberglass it or get the whole thing remoulded

    these are the switches on the surround that im meaning
    and the type of switches im wanting to put in there laser etched and got 2 led lights in it one for when on parkers and the other for when the switch is on

    I had a similar problem once, but my aftermarket switches were somewhat smaller than the original ones and would not fit the surround. I used some of the blanks and drilled a suitable sized hole through them, making a snug fit for the switch.
    Maybe you could simply widen the aperture in the surround by grinding of a millimetre or so?

    I went to the wreckers and got more switches that fit into the surround, I use one for my spotties.

    I used some factory switches out of my 'spare' range rover for the spotty and light bar switches in my early D1's dash.

    yeh the switches i want to use are lazer etched but are abit larger than the standard switches
    stock switch measures 26mm long by 15mm wide
    new switches measure 35mm long by 21mm wide

    thats substantially bigger. I'd say they just wont fit in that location.
