    Stuck in Diff Lock

    Hey Folks,

Here is my Problem, i move the CDL lever back to the unlock position, the light go's out but it stays locked, have tried jiggling it and no good, also tried reversing a fair distance. 50m or so and still no joy, have checked by jacking up one front wheel and putting the Trans in neutral, wheel does not spin freely whether the lever is in the lock or unlock position, any ideas ??

    Thanks
    Kevin

oh one more thing there is a horrible clicking sound sometimes when i turn forward full lock right and reverse full lock left, now i suspect that to be the CV's so i have ordered some of them to replace, could that have something to do with it not unlocking?

Do you use the method described in the driver's handbook?

(keep the vehicle rolling while you actuate the lever?)

Ok I have just been out having a muck around with it, there is some pretty serous clucking going on in the front diff, is it possible that it has damaged it to the point that it has locked it and even though the cdl is disengaged it still drives like it is locked? I know when you are offroad and you lock the cdl when turning full lock the inner rear wheel spins a bit as its trying to turn the same speed as the rest, that is what it is doing now with the cdl in unlock position and light out, so as I said before if I have damaged the front diff enough to lock it would it drive like cdl was on... got me a bit stumped

If I was to disconect the front drive shaft from the diff will I ve abke to turn that while the tc is unlocked? If so would that eliminate the the cdl and put me in the direction of the diff being busted to the point of being locked

Selector ring fork is operated by a spring that applies pressure as you operate the lever. You need to get it into "loose" position where fork and ring can slide freely on the hub. If you are not achieving this for what ever reason it won't unlock. What ever is sticking fork/ring in the lock position, spring force can not overcome it.

Ok I get it but would the light still go out even if the fork and sping are not working correctly, in the manual it states that " the amber warning light on the dash illuminates when diff lock is actually engaged rather than when it has been selected, similarly it will only extinguish when the diff lock is actually disengaged"

My light actually goes out but it stays locked..

select neutral on the Tcase with the park brake applied
lift the whole front axle and twist the front propshaft or turn one of the wheels, you'll soon see whats what
