My head purchased last year is the new design and although i cant confirm if it is an AMC , the part number is the new design .
Kit was $947 AUD to my door but exchange rate was better then.

I bought an AMC/Turner 'performance' head in January and it came in just over the A$1000, so I paid GST plus customs clearing charges too.
The $ has dropped significantly since then, so check your exchange rate.
BTW, I has to strip and clean it properly before installation, there was grinding debris in the ports and swarf in the head.
I wasn't happy with the port job either, so out came the die grinders and another four or five hours work.
Turners service is fantastic, Frida Turner provides better service than any business I've dealt with, she replied to my email order on their Boxing Day, she was still at home !
I've bought a few engine bits from them and the AMC head has a very good reputation, but it wasn't clean enough and that's Turners thing as it was an assembled head.
The average punter would've been happy with the port job, but in another lifetime I built race engines and was lucky enough to know and use some of the best race engine and head porting people in the country for my heads, at the time they supplied the two teams that dominated the V8 category, top race boats and a couple of the top Sprintcar teams so I've seen what a good port job looks like.
I must agree with your comments about Frida's service. My email was answered from her phone within the hour, at what would have been about 5am in the UK. Did you give them the feedback about the porting job? As I am sure that as business owners they would be most appreciative.
