Fitted an end to my snorkel. Piece of 80 mm piping with a 90 degree bend, spray painted black, sealed and clamped on, looks a treat! Full bogan spec now.

the donuts going to give way eventually, when it starts to get cracks in it replace it with a UJ setup.
it will still allow you to snap both axles if you try hard enough.
Fitted a 40mm lift tonight (Ironman quotes 40mm from stock heights).

While fitting the fronts I was very surprised to see they were only as long as the ones that came out, however you can see they are more tightly wound and thicker.

The rears were far longer though, which meant I was glad I borrowed a set of compressors off a work mate otherwise I don't think I would have managed to get it done.

Over all, I was disappointed it took me so long. I made a couple of repetitive errors which just annoys me. Tried to do some things too fast which also delayed me, as a result I'll likely need a new bottom nut for my RHS Shock due to partly stripping the threads. Quite irked.

I gained 70mm on my front right, which was my lowest, and 47mm on my rear left which was my highest. So car has now levelled out and is noticeably higher. So, here's to more flex! I now slide out of the car instead of stepping out :)
Does anyone recommend taking sway bars off for 4wding or day to day? Does it make much difference?
Was talking to a landy nut awhile ago about swaybars. His idea was no front bar, but add/or keep a rear bar. Theory behind it was using the rear sway bar to loose some rear flex (which is reasonably good) and force the front to flex more. Sounds good in theory......and if it worked, would give a better balance of front/rear flex than they have from the factory.
My Disco (and Rangie) have no swaybars from the factory, otherwise I would give his idea a go.
Looks good, you need some tints on that truck though. Looks way better with them and is more comfortable inside.
Bugger! Replaced the semi stripped nut and ended up shearing the bottom of the shock mount off! So, I'll just grab another from the wreckers, doh!
And second hand shock fitted for $20. Problem solved. Rained fairly hard yesterday in Darwin, so will hit the mud tomorrow for the first time since the mods. Should be fun.
Went out for a bash this arvo. Went with a mate in a Troopy, and I left him for dead! My tyres are pretty much new muddies and he is on fairly well worn A/Ts so wasn't much of a contest really. The mud and water up here is great now. I had water up to my windscreen twice and I checked the air filter and it was as dry as a bone. So the snorkel is sealed up nicely. I also had water mid door a few times and muddy water holes, and the diff held up a treat. Once or twice I felt the diff bang a bit which made me feel uneasy as I would get a wheel in the air over some large corrugations, or crawling over rocks, so I am just taking everything slowly and letting the new traction take me everywhere instead of taking pace like I had been. The extra lift was good too. I think it is slightly more comfortable now too, plus no banging of tyres on guards and the like. All in all, going well.
