And i done that for 4wding.
I put 2 inch heady duty springs on the front and 2 inch normal on the rear with 16mm spacers to lift the rear more.

If im not mistaken spring spacers do the same as body lift.
They move your diff further away from your body.
The same as bigger springs do also.
Only difference is you need the suspension to suit as spacing alone will reduce the travel of the spring with a standard shocker.

Atleast thats my take on the subject.
Im sure i will be corrected by someone with more knowledge.

Body lift will space the body higher on the chassis, giving you more clearance in the wheel arches, now odd fitting front and rear bars, higher door handles, but suspension height remains unchanged.

Spring spacers will lift suspension height, but spring coil may bind if nothing else is done. This will vary with the spring used, and the amount of spacer used. 15mm should be fine, any more than that and it would pay to actually check.

I want/need the full 50mm of lift, as I also want to try 265/75 or 235/85 tyres in the near future. I'll just save $500 and buy a cheap set off eBay. Doesn't need to last 100km, only 20-30 should see the car through to the end of its life.

Before I do that, I need to work out what this new ticking noise is. I'm due to change the oil again, so I'll see if it is just the oil thinning out too much in the heat up here. Otherwise I'm unsure. Isle is fine, revs fine, no drive ability issues. Tick is associated with rpm not speed, and more so with load as opposed to coasting, it is fairly quiet but it is a new one.

It is a very tappety noise. But I guess loose manifold bolts may account for some of it. May have to loctite them in place this time if they are loose.

I am also interested to know how difficult it is to replace the sunroof motor. It will lift and lower the roof, but not motor it back. I need to remove it, to inspect the sunroof drains, and failing that, just glue it in place as it has leaked before, but appears to have stopped..?

All manifold bolts are tight, one was about a half turn loose but no change to noise. It is definitely coming from the RHS, and I'm confident it is from the upper engine. If it wasn't such a PITA to take the rocker cover off I would tonight to see how everything looks. If I had to guess, I'd say it is the rear two cylinders. But hard to say. Seems like it is associated with acceleration of the engine, because when revs are held the noise dissipates. Harmonic balancer? The 3.9 is a pushrod engine, isn't it? So maybe a guide has come loose?

Following this, as mine has just started doing exactly the same thing.

If you can hear it on one side more than the other then i would say its not the harmonic balancer.

Given it seems evident on one side i would take off the rocker cover and check as i got a feeling its valve train related.

    I hope it isn't a liner.......

Oil looks fine, no bubbles in coolant. May have even subsided a little. I'm going with valve train too. Won't know for at least a fortnight though as I'm away with work. For when I return!

I'm about to order some new manifold gaskets. Appears there are a few types around. Whole bank, two piece, singles. Is there one type better than another? Currently mine has what looks like about 4 or 5 pieces of tin as the gasket.
