how's your ems unit going? easy to set up in the menu? where did you get power from and where did you earth it? bout to hook mine up as i reassemble my engine
PS i thought engine suppoed to run hotter than that as well. the thermostat meant to open at 88C so thought would need to get to at least 90s
thanks
I picked up on the UHF radio power supply and earthed to one of the nuts on the AC cover. But Im not happy with this set up...I need to take the thermostat out and drill a small hole in the top to allow water into the upper hose.....still getting false alarms when the thermostat closes and I like the idea of putting the temp sender into the top of the head, otherwise easy to fit, the top hose add in I found difficult to clamp, hoses kept slipping off...an extra hand to force them into position was required.
I tested the thermostat and it opened at 86C I think, so I dont know why it runs cooler....78C is the base low level and it goes up a bit with hills etc. Generally 78-82C, the latter with AC on.
dont forget the AC puts load on the crank and in front of the radiator.
Thermostats have a couple of different ways of rating their temp..
opening temp, and full open temp. some give you a range.
a thermostat that begins to open at 82 degrees will give you completely different operating characteristics to one that is fully open at 82.
