    Condenser Fan Relay Location

    Hey folks,

I have read all the threads i can find on here about condenser fans not working but the location of the relay that turns them on and off is always just said to be "behind the glovebox". I have half a dozen relays behind the glovebox of my V8 94 Disco and don't know which one is the fan relay?

I looked in my workshop manual and i have pictures of the relay but they are grainy and black and white and i think the locations are for a left hand drive disco!

It is my understanding that if the fans dont work, it is either the wiring, fan motors, fuses or relay. Is there some fan speed controller also - or do the fans always run at full speed?

    Thanks for any help.

    Mine is the 1994 version.
The manual i have shows a close up photo of the relays but the photo doesn't match any of the sets of relays in the drivers side or passenger side footwell.

I got this photo a guy elsewhere posted of what is meant to be the relay - but i wasn't aware that the face lifted version moved them to a different location?

I don't know why land rover wouldn't just label relay locations like they do fuse boxes... There is half a dozen relays in the drivers side foot panel as well as that many on the passengers side!?

Wow! Those pictures are nice and clear! Thanks
Does that bracket unbolt and drop down from behind the glove box?
I took the side panel off the sidewall in the passenger footwell thinking that's what it meant by "Fascia"! Interestingly i found lots of relays behind there too.

If I remember correctly it unbolts form the side panel.
Yes those are the pics from the official Land Rover manual RAVE. It has clear photos of all the components in the electrics

I assume your blurry pics are from the Haynes paper manual.they have a lot to be desired.

Thanks. I am checking out those manuals now.
I traced all relays, fuses and wires, and it is actually just the fans that are dead. I removed them and made a quick bearing puller to check out the insides. The carbon brushes seem to have cut into the rotor. I presume this is just due to the age of the motors. My disco has a fair few kms on it and these would be the original fans.

With the RAVE manuals there appears to only be 1995 to 1998. My 1994 years doesn't appear to be covered. Unless the 1995-1998 book just means the facelifted version...

Is the wreckers the best bet for replacements?
