    HEAD GASKET OIL LEAK

Sons 300TDI has had a new head a couple of months ago,now oil seems to be leaking out between head and block on drivers side.Should we re torque head, and if so what are torque figures and pattern? He pulled wastegate hose off so was running about 24 lb of boost.but hose back on now.

if it is actually coming from the head gasket and not just working its way round from the oil seperator or the rocker gasket then most likely you're going to want a new gasket.

generally, no you cant just retorque a couple of the torque to yield bolts on the tdi.

The oil feed hole in the head gasket is 2mm diameter....although the hole in the head and block is bigger...seems like an odd leak to me. I'd wipe it all clean and double check.

Oil is probably leaking from breather pipe going from rocker cover down to the block.

I would also look at the fuel return spill lines...I had this problem recently...feared the worst, replaced with lawn mower (clear) hose and fixed the issue.

If it's an MLS head gasket, yep, probably weeping.

That's why certain Land Rover repairers only use the 'old' style composite Elring gasket, they just seem to seal better around the oil feed to the head.
Everything has to be absolutely perfect for the MLS gasket to do it's job, IMO that means a decked block.
