I'd say cap them if you can. Keeps them clean if you want to use them later.
I think they are 3 core i.e. 3 cores thick. I had the Perentie radiator re cored. Worked well for me.
A couple of years ago I changed the radiator in the Commodore. They last around ten years in the Commodore. They put an aluminium one in it. Told me the copper ones are NLA. Didn't last long. Eleven months later it sprung a leak in the cores.
If you are going for an aluminium radiator, you may need to look at the coolant you are running.
Don't be afraid to go aluminium. The V8 is an alloy block. A custom built radiator will be better than the Chinese rubbish GMH sell. Let us know how you go.
