Troubles with starting 300tdi Disco

I am watching this with interest as well.
I just bought a 200tdi Disco. The bloke said the starter was U/S so had to pull start it. It started and ran well.
However I fixed the starter, bought a new battery, but like you cant get pressure from the injectors and it wont start from the starter.
Lift pump is pumping well at the filter.
Have you tried to pull start it rather than jump start?

What is your compression like? If it will tow start but not electric start? It may be low on compression.

Good point. I will check that.
I have a mate coming around to help me tow start again to make sure it still does.

Once tow started, does it blow any smoke? Does the engine have a normal amount of power?

If it will start on ether then it probably isn't a lack of compression IMO. And, unless something has become seriously deranged, lack of compression isn't a sudden thing.

My 5 cents worth. Fuel filter, fuel separator and blow air through lines. If they are blocked could cause a restriction. Check tank for diesel fungi if black slime present treat.

Fill a container with diesel and a pipe direct from the lift pump to it. That should identify/rule out blockages.

cant recall by memory (mine never lasted long enough to get to know it )

the fuel pump has a Gauze filter ..I may be wrong

try starting the engine by a deodorant sprayed into the air intake ..if it starts and cut out yes fuel issue

Good point. Used to deal with a fleet of busses. The ones that went out every day and worked were no trouble. The ones that sat around like orphans had huge issues with slime. the stuff would block the pickup. Hard starting and low power ensued.

Be nice if the OP got back and told us whats happening:(
