    C.O.G. point of LT77 & T.Box

For my series gearboxes I have a bolt on single lift point to lift the gearbox and T.Box out without bits of rope everywhere. This bolts on near the PTO hole.
Does anyone have the same thing for the Disco, with drawings or photo so I can make one?

Keith are you lifting it out or dropping it out on a cradle on a jack? The problem with these is that the transfer case tips them over to one side badly if you are lifting/ lowering so you will need a lot of ropes etc anyway. The Haynes manual has a plan in it of how to construct a trans cradle to put on a trolley jack or a trans jack. I made 1 15yrs ago and still use it today. Drilled a few holes in it here and there for other gearboxes etc but it is a good design.

I made one years ago for the RRC with a lt77.
Lucky my Box&T/C were still in the car so i just got a bit of plate steel long enough to go under the box & t/c welded bits and bobs to keep it all square for removal and refitting also had a chain that went around the box to stop it slipping off or falling side ways then welded the plate to my trolley jack.
Sorry no pic`s a it was a one off job and ended up for some over project

Keith, in the Defender workshop manual there's a method for removing the transfer using an adapter plate and trolley jack or hoist. There's a diagram, but no measurements. It wouldn't be hard to make. Section 41 (Page 166)

This particular job is in a 1957 shorty so I can use the overhead gantry to lift.
With the old series box 3 bolts hold the single point lift ring.
With the two Discos I have now it will be on the 4 poster and use a cradle from underneath if I ever need to remove them.
I have Disco manuals but not a Defender one .
I will look out for the plan and make a bottom bolt up one as well and use a trans jack.

Thanks Don. Just realised thats a PDF so could open it and look at that stuff.
I tried to file it in my computer but it did not work.
Not to worry I get the idea.
