No power @ Cigarette + Stereo Fuses

    Attn: AULRO massive,

Need some help on this one (300tdi updated dash):

    • Front cigarette power point is not working
    • No power at the ciggy fuse terminals under dash
    • No power at the stereo fuse terminal either
    • Checked all fuses in under dash fuse box (drivers side)
    • Checked all fuses in under bonnet fuse box next to battery
    • All fuses good!

The after-market stereo has been wired into a splice in the loom , so it bypasses the dedicated 10A wire out of the fuse box which would have fed the factory unit. I cant see why the installer would have done that unless this power issue was present when they installed the unit. Or they completely missed the dedicated feed (how!?) and caused the issue with the splice.

The splice is on a light green with white stripe wire. Anyone know what this wire is supposed to feed?

From memory i believe they are all on the same circuit so if the fuses are good there must be a wiring issue somewhere in between - sorry not much help.

Ok I got there, after needlessly pulling out the fuse box!

For those it might help: It was the 'accessories' relay in the passenger foot well behind the side trim panel. Swapped it for the horn relay until I get another.

Relay triggered from IGN, Light green with white stripe goes from relay across to back of fuse box providing power to fuse 3 + 6 (stereo and cigar lighter)

Accessories Relay is C282 in attached pic, horn is C283

You gotta have a functional cigar lighter, even if you don't smoke. Visiting dignitaries!

It's a 300tdi disco, not an Isuzu 110 or a L322. Cabin noise is just right, loud enough to know the engines running OK without having to hang your head out the window for a listen, and quiet enough to hear complaints come in on the UHF.

so i take it, if my cigar lighter works and my stereo doesnt then its not a relay problem. checked all fuses. all ok. including the one at back of stereo.

i think when i was putting centre console back in i ripped one of wires from the stereo loom out. there was an orange wire just hanging there with bare cable sticking out. im thinking this one ripped out and is why stereo not working. happened when i installed the engine saver.

hoping i didnt blow up the unit. havent had radio in months/year now. kinda plays on my paranoia because i cant turn volume up to drown out noises which scare me.
