No real vacuum (and pollen filter)

    Hey all. You guys rock.

Been fiddling round with the vacuum hoses...

And is there meant to be a vacuum in the hose that runs from the air filterbox? I don't get ANY vacuum in either direction. Is this normal?

Note my test is to feel for air or listen for wshhhhhhhh noises.

The other hoses all seem to have vacuum.

Also not game to muck with the hose from the feul prrssure regulator too much.

Side note... do our pollen filters under the windhsield do... anything? Should I bother replacing it... I've not had one in 4 years ...

The hose on the air box goes to the back of the LH rocker cover. It allows a small amount of clean fresh air to be drawn into that side of the engine to balance the air sucked out of the RH rocker cover via the breather. It reduces crap and moisture build up. You won't feel any vacuum there.

The hose to the fuel pressure regulator should be checked on occasion for signs of fuel leakage from the regulator. If it is soft and falls off your engine will run very rich at low loads. I replace them whenever I see them get too old.

I doubt that you could call the foam strips "pollen filters", more like leaf guards. Having heard a few blower fans with a leaf trapped inside, the foam is a good idea.

    Thank you so much.

I'll change all the hoses then!

Is there meant to be oil comming out of the hose from the inlet manifold to the airbox? Its a tiny amount.

No oil should come out of that hose if the rest of the system is in good condition. Make sure the tee piece in the breather hose from the drivers side rocker cover is present and clear. There should be a roughly 2.5mm brass jet in the tee piece directly to vacuum via an 8mm hose. Some mechanics have very odd ideas about replacing the tee with a straight pipe, so make sure it's all original first. Example:
