But it does help with brake fade which in turn reduces performance.

So your auto Tdi is a performance car :Rolling:
Yes you are correct and yes they get hot and they fade , Vented rotors get hot and fade as well just not as quick and cool down quicker [wink11]
I have had a couple of RRC and D1`s and several other brands over the years with out vented rotors and have only suffered brake fade once .
One tends to drive to the conditions [tonguewink].
So is this stupid belief that a car with solid rotors or drum brakes, no air bags and no abs no stability control and all the other safety devices for dumb people are not safe nor a car for performance.
Really come on guys what did you learn to drive in [bigrolf] I bet it was lucky to have a heater or radio let alone power drum brakes:soapbox:
Chill Chris , I have had brake fade a few times mainly when towing.
Vented rotors may slow the fade down otherwise I have never had a problem with solids.
If I was replacing rotors and needed to rebuild calipers I would go with a vented conversion.

Took me ages to find the most latest model D1 without air bag and ABS!! .. not as common as they should have been!
but that the Govt for 'ya! trying to protect us from all the idiots out there, rather than to properly educate those idiots before they're given a license to cause carnage!
.. anyhow, I'm off my soapbox too now.
