    300Tdi power steering pump

The power steering on pump on my 300Tdi Discovery had been getting a bit noisy over the past few months. A little while ago, the steering got real heavy, like there was no power assistance. Is the pump serviceable or adjustable anyway?

not really, you can clean it down and if the relief valve is stuck open you get these symptoms.

Apparently NO, I had a problem with mine where one of the fittings was leaking oil so I had to get a brand new pump.
I can't remember what it cost but I do recall it wasn't cheap.

I just got the PS pump in my D2 V8 rebuilt from a steering/trans place around the corner from me.
The pump leaked and made those annoying groaning noises when under load with a lumpy inconsistent power assistance feel.
    Cost me $160.
300 TDi doesn't look too bad in terms of removal-refitting the pump(haven't needed to touch mine yet), but the D2 V8 is a few orders of magnitude more painful compared to anything I've yet done to my 300TDi Disco.

    So I'd recommend something similar.
Pull it out, take to shop, get them to rebuild it/or get new pump, you refit it.

Roverlord has them and im sure he would do it cheaper if you contacted him through the forum.
Genuine zf hardly worth getting rebuilt for the price and time involved
