Very common problem. There is a circuit board behind the glove box that gets dry joints on it. Do a search on here and there will be a gazillion threads about them.
Hi I recently bought a Discovery 1 1996 and when I tried to put the rear windows down they both did not work. I've check the fuse that's ok the switchesin the front console are ok. I have tested the door switches yet. I thought it is a bit strange that they both don't work. Has any had a similar fault to mine. I'm no sure where to look next.

most likely the circuit board as mentioned but how did you check switches? mine were not working either and when i swapped switch for the fronts (working) onto the rear wires they wouldnt work. so bought two new switches and are now working except that one has broken the little wheels on the winder regulator. sigh
Mine did the same, was the circuit board others have mentioned.
Removed the board and found the two dry solder joints, worked fine since.
Also to note, is I believe it's bad practice to operate more than one electric window at a time in the disco.
Because too much current draw through that solder joint over time with heating and contracting of the solder will cause the joint to crack...
Must be the season for this. My rear drivers side has stopped working as well. I have checked with a meter and there is power to the switch and power going to the winder motor. But not working. So I am leaning to wards a dud winder motor at the moment.
